Segal's Seagulls were crowned the 2022 champions of the Faculty and Staff Dodgeball Classic. The team won all five of their matchups to bring the championship back to the department!

Research led by Segal Lab investigators at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides new hope for recovery from degenerative neurological diseases — such as ALS and multiple sclerosis — as well from as damage caused by traumatic brain and spine injuries and stroke. LEARN MORE

ECTRIMS Travel Award Given to Segal Lab Member - Postdoc Jeffrey Atkinson received a travel award from the European Committee for Research and Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis to support his travel to present at the ECTRIMS Congress in Stockholm, Sweden, in September 2019.

July 17, 2018 - New Paper Highlights Pathway to CNS Lesion Localization
The Segal Lab has published a new (July 16, 2018) paper in the Journal of Neuroinflammation detailing evidence of a previously undiscovered mechanism in which cytokines IFNγ and CXCL2 interact to regulate central nervous system lesion location in an experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) mouse model. It was surprising for many of us when a well-known actress recently revealed she’s been dealing with multiple sclerosis (MS) for 15 years. Jamie Lynn Sigler said in interviews she was symptom-free for a long time, and now takes medication to keep her symptoms stable.Dr. Benjamin Segal, Holtom-Garrett Professor of Neurology and director of the U-M Multiple Sclerosis Center, explains that MS treatment has grown by leaps and bounds in the past 20 years.“I myself have many patients who are high-functioning, successful contributors to society, from CEOs and professors to doctors and lawyers. Many of these individuals have no signs of MS that are apparent to co-workers or acquaintance,” Segal wrote.
