Background: Susan M. Havercamp, PhD, is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and Director of Health Promotion and Healthcare Parity at The Ohio State University Nisonger Center. Her research focuses on health equity for people with disabilities, especially developmental disabilities. She has contributed to health surveillance, inclusive health promotion programs and policies, and healthcare provider education to improve the health and healthcare for children and adults with disabilities.

Dr. Havercamp directs a rehabilitation research and training center, funded by the National Institute on Disability Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research, focused on mental health of adults with intellectual disability. She also co-directs the Ohio Disability and Health Program, a state-wide capacity building program, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to improve the health and access to health care of Ohioans with disabilities. Believing that the solution to the problem of health disparities for people with disabilities lies in education, Dr. Havercamp is involved in several projects to promote disability training in healthcare education.

She served on the board of directors of the National Association on Dual Diagnosis and is past president of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, the largest interdisciplinary professional organization for intellectual and developmental disabilities, and of the Alliance for Disability in Health Care Education.
