About Me

I chose to become an obstetrician and gynecologist because it allows me the privilege of taking care of patients across distinct phases of their lives. I care for patients through pregnancy and childbirth, treat issues including infertility, fibroids and polycystic ovary syndrome, and offer gender-affirming care and contraception services. I am interested in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and my research has focused on reproductive justice and trauma-informed care.

When meeting with patients, I always take the time to listen to each unique concern and understand how the care intersects with their life. My patients can trust that I will work collaboratively with them to determine the best treatment option that aligns with their needs and values. It is essential to be straightforward and honest with my patients to establish a level of trust, and I want to make them feel empowered to reach their health and life goals.

In addition, doing this work at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is truly a privilege. The access to cutting-edge research and innovative treatments is unparalleled, and I feel confident knowing that my patients will receive the highest care possible from everyone on the staff, including medical students, residents, nurses, consultants, and our support staff.

My job includes helping to train future physicians, a role I developed a passion for during my own residency training here at Ohio State. Upon completing residency, I knew that I wanted to continue working in this space to give back to the department and health system that helped shape me into the physician I am today. I currently work with medical students in nearly all facets of my position, including during labor and delivery, in the clinic and in the operating room. I enjoy teaching and aim to create a safe space that allows for a positive learning environment.

When I’m not working, I enjoy walking and biking, exploring the local Columbus food scene, spending time with my soon-to-be husband and other family and friends, and traveling the world.

I am a woman with a high BMI. I was looking to see if I have PCOS. Despite being laid out in the most recent guidelines for treating patients with PCOS as something to NOT DO, this provider immediately focused entirely on my weight, encouraging me to try strength training, SURGERIES OR MEDICATIONS for weight loss. This is KNOWING that I have ulcerative colitis, which causes weight fluctuations, and I have spent a large part of my life just trying to make sure I was eating well enough while also not ripping ulcers open. Her cavalier attitude towards my weight, allowing that to be her only major concern of my diagnosis, overshadowed all the other information I received about my condition. I left and cried afterwards because of this. All I could focus on was that she wanted me to be thinner, even though she could only cite one study that showed MAYBE weight loss would help. I felt trapped, like I couldn't disagree with her because she was so enthusiastic about weight loss. And In my head I kept thinking "I KNOW bmi Isn't an Indicator of health. I know this. Does she? Will she even believe me If I say I'm not Interested In weight loss?" The rest of that day, and into the next, I was depressed, crying, debated skipping meals and instead overate out of sadness and anger. I didn't want to look at myself. I've spent a long, long time getting the scale to be a neutral number for me. I don't want to feel despair OR pride for the numbers it shows. I don't want to open myself up to potential disordered eating. And I certainly think there's a better way to go about this discussion than how it was handled for me.

She can be very quick at times in how she provides information and does not always show emotional support for challenging discussions. She did not even attempt to check in on how I was doing after having a baby or ask how the baby was doing, which would have been very easy to do and a positive rapport development activity while setting up for the visit.

Answered all of my questions/concerns. Was asking me questions. About what I wanted from the visit asking if I had further questions, was very open and honest and patient with my concerns/questions. Was very good.

My provider was very friendly and kind. We discussed some of my symptoms and she encouraged further work up. There was a possibility that a tumor was on my brain. She did not say if I would be malignant or benign, so I had to ask. Not letting me know that it was most likely benign right away made me scared. However, when my blood tests resulted, my doctor called me very soon after to ensure me that everything was fine and no further testing is needed at this time. She also answered the follow up question afterwards. I really appreciated her promptness
