Are you a candidate for body contouring?
We want to ensure any procedure has the best chance for success and to give you an improved quality of life. Successful body contouring surgery starts with you having healthy lifestyle habits and positive goals.
Specifically, to be eligible for body contouring surgery, you should meet all the following:
- Have a body mass index (BMI) less than 30 – People who have a BMI less than 30 have better results from body contouring surgeries. It’s possible you may be able to qualify with a BMI up to 35 depending on other factors including size and body type. Calculate your BMI.
- Have a stable weight – If you’ve recently had bariatric surgery, it’s recommended you keep a stable weight for at least six months (about 18 months after bariatric surgery) before undergoing body contouring surgery. If you’re still losing weight or plan to lose more weight, you shouldn’t have body contouring procedures.
- Are healthy enough for surgery – Our team will evaluate if you have other health conditions that may put you at higher risk, such as diabetes or certain heart conditions.
- Not use tobacco products – You can’t smoke or use tobacco products for at least six weeks prior to surgery.
- Have excess skin – Body contouring surgeries work best in removing skin and unwanted fat from almost any area of the body including the face, neck, extremities and trunk.
- Have realistic and healthy goals for the surgery – Body contouring surgery can make drastic improvements in how you look and feel, but often requires multiple surgeries and may result in scarring along your incisions. Our body contouring team will work with you to explain the body contouring process, your individualized plan and the timeline of when you will see final results.
