About Me

I specialize in orthopaedics, with a subspecialty in shoulder surgery.

My approach to patient care is providing individualized care to each patient and problem. I believe strongly in a conservative approach and involving patients in their care.

I use non-operative measures whenever possible. However, there are times when surgery is the best solution. In those cases, I use only the latest and most current techniques in shoulder surgery.

I am passionate about what I do as an orthopedic shoulder surgeon. That’s because I get a lot of pleasure from treating not only the straightforward problems, but also the complex and more difficult shoulder problems. I love helping patients reclaim their quality of life and getting them back to the activities they enjoy.

Very nice, explains everything well, and an excellent surgeon! I have recommended Julie Bishop to several people who have said they need to have shoulder surgery.

First time seeing her so we didn't speak at great lengths. She too ask about my pain level and ended that conversation. This must be an OSU policy.

    Very good

  • Reviewed on Sep 15, 2024

I'm so impressed. I was strongly referred to Dr. Bishop by three nurses after I had an unsuccessful (botched?) bicep reattachment/rotator cuff surgery with another practice in 2022 and was told I'd need a shoulder replacement. I met with her early in 2023 to discuss the replacement, but all went on hold when I had to have other unexpected surgeries first. So we got reacquainted, and scheduled the replacement for early next year (at my request). I really liked Dr. Bishop the first time, and liked her even more this time. I (somewhat jokingly) told myself, "I'm 67 years old, but she makes me feel every bit as important as the OSU athletic stars she treats!"

This was my first meeting with this provider and I was positively impressed with her level of caring and knowledge.
