About Me

As a physician, I love interacting with patients and believe the relationship between a patient and their physician is of vital importance. I’m passionate about sports medicine because I was once a Division I and semi-professional athlete, which gave me firsthand knowledge of both the capabilities—and also the limitations—of the human body in sports.

I believe in shared decision making with patients. This begins with active listening. I try to be supportive and to make evidence-based recommendations for diagnosis and treatment. Ultimately, once the patient is empowered with this knowledge, I guide them toward making informed decisions about their own health care.

In my clinical practice, I’m committed to the self-examination of cultural, social and personal influences on health care outcomes. I strive for inclusive practice of medicine and understand the importance of community context on individual health outcomes. I welcome patients from all identity groups, including those who identify outside of socially constructed categories of race, class, gender, sexuality, disability and national status.

At Ohio State College of Medicine, I’m an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. During my time as a resident and then sports medicine fellow, I was often involved in teaching students, so I’m excited to continue building connections with new students.

During my career, I have advocated at the state and national levels for the continuation of primary care residencies in Colorado because of the integral role primary care physicians play in the health care system. I hope to make more contributions to the state of medicine by studying injury prevention in college athletes.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, watching and playing all sports, laughing, and entertaining my 4-year-old rescue dog, Dottie Blue.
