About Me
I’m an orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. I take the time to understand each patient’s concerns, goals and expectations while providing a clear explanation of the diagnosis and treatment options, which can range from non-operative solutions to minimally invasive arthroscopic or open surgeries for patients of all ages. I’m passionate about helping my patients alleviate their pain and improving their function to get them back to doing the things that they enjoy.
I developed a focus on patient care, research and education while training at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. However, as someone who was born and raised in Columbus, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has always been a special place to me. The team-based approach and willingness to address any problem, no matter how complex, set Ohio State apart for providing the best care possible to patients and made it the ideal place to continue my career.
I’ve served as a team physician and taken care of athletes at all levels of competition, including providing care as an assistant team physician with the New York Giants. I also enjoy taking care of the athletes at Ohio State.
My research interests include enhancing our understanding of shoulder instability and available treatment options as well as patient expectations and clinical outcomes for shoulder replacements and rotator cuff repairs.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family as well as playing tennis and hiking.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Rauck has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
None. He understands hearing impaired
Doctor Rauck explained all aspects of the operation and recovery
Good good
Very nice, listened to what happened and informative as to extent of injury and how it would be repaired.
Dr Rauck was very knowledgeable about my condition and he explained things very well.
Whole experience timely and effective
Dr Rauck is awesome, very thorough and has improved my quality of life immensely
Professional, friendly, attentive, compassionate, kind
Absolutely first rate.
The dr was fantastic
He's a definite pro and listens. Shows concern
Very good
Very knowledgeable
Dr. Rauck asked how I was feeling but did not ask any questions about how I was doing physically handling daily tsks nor convey what to expect /time frames for expected capabilities. Guess they don't care and leave that to the PT to answer and assume the patient will be kept in the loop.
Dr Rauck is very polite and knowledgeable and listens to your concerns.
I loved my visit With Dr. Rauck. He is extremely well spoken, courteous, well informed, and Inspired confidence quickly.
Good
Very very good.
Very knowledgeable and listened to my concerns
Very good
Encouraging and positive.
Dr. Rauck is great. Although my arm is not healing as fast as I would like he is doing all he can to get me back on track.
Friendly Knowledgeable
He did an outstanding job on my shoulder.
Outstanding.
Took all the time I needed, listened to my questions
Took his time to look over everything an explained what he saw and what needed to be done and went over all questions I had
Very knowledgeable
Dr. Rauck is the best shoulder surgeon in central Ohio. He is thorough, attentive and explains things in a way that makes sense. I appreciate his candor and willingness to make me feel like no question is a bad one about my condition. I think he's an excellent surgeon and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of care!
Always listening to what I say and answers my questions. Very outstanding bed side manners.
Nice, knowledgeable. I do wish I had had a bit more time to talk over my situation, and other options.
No bad experience all good
Great
Dr. Rauck is always great. Explains everything very well and always asks me if I have any questions.
Oh Dr Rauck is wonderful he explained everything to me very pleasant, he is wonderful Doctor .
I don't know how it could have been better.
Good
The Dr was excellent during the surgery and has been at all office calls would recommend him to anyone
Slightly detached from my concern.
The care provider proved to be very caring and knew how to ease my worries.
Very Pleasant
Knew what was going on, did a good job.
It was a good experience
Top notch orthopedic surgeon. Explained my surgeries, recovery time very clearly. Offered up services if I ever need him again.
Dr. Hauck had a sophisticated understanding of my injury. He was able to review the MRI before the radiologist results were ready and he discerned the important findings and recommended physical therapy and a follow up with specific outcomes for evaluation then. I feel like I'm on track for full healing.
Was also Very Good
My doctor was great. He explained everything to me in a easy and understanding manner.
I was very impressed by Dr. Rauck telling me that he'd been further researching my condition due to its uniqueness. And his ability to develop a plan of care beyond the normal as a result of that research.
Info always provided and cared about what was going on
Dr. Rauck is the best upper extremity expert in town, in my opinion. He is attentive, accessible and caring. I appreciate Dr. Rauck's willingness to listen to my concerns and address them. He doesn't talk down to me or the people who have attended appointments with me. He treats things conservatively and addresses concerns appropriately. I appreciate Dr. Rauck's attention to detail, sense of humor and thoroughness. Dr. Rauck's entire staff, including Monica, Devvan and Monica are the best. The OSU Sports Medicine program is lucky that they have such wonderful and caring team members. Every time I met with Dr. Rauck, I'm impressed with him and all of the treatment team.
I am pleased with outcome of my surgery, and how willing he is to explain processes as they arise.
No complaint.
Loved how the Dr took the time to really listen to my concerns and questions without feeling rushed.
I have had some terrible doctors lately who have not wanted to listen to me and/or brush me off. Dr. Rauck was NOT one of them. He listened to me talk about my spine, and how it is messing up my shoulder. He explained things to me in easy to understand terms, while not talking down to me as a patient. He was nice and professional. I will definitely go back to him in the future if there are more shoulder problems.
No issues. I love Dr. Rauck. He is very thorough and explained things well. Very easy to understand.
Very professional
A second doctor (possibly an intern-uncertain at this point) spent a great deal of time going over my x-rays and explaining the radiologist's report in detail. It was very helpful and then I could focus on specific items with Dr. Rauck. The time spent with both doctors was the right amount and they were very patient in listening to my questions and providing answers to me.
Great.
Dr. Rauck seemed very knowledgeable and a very skilled surgeon.
Professional and did appropriate hands on assessment of my left arm and shoulder.
Dr. Rauck listens to my concerns and questions. After having 5 total shoulder surgeries between both shoulders he understands my needs and follows through.
I've been a patient of Dr Rauck's for a year. There's not enough room for me to cite the good experiences I've had with him and/or his staff.
Also all good.
Everything was above & beyond what I expected. I always had full faith in my recovery.
I thought Dr. Rauck was absolutely great.
He was nice but didn't help me by any means. Basically said there's nothing we can really do and sent me to physical therapy for the 3rd time and said to call back i f things worsen or stay the same. It's been 6 years that I've been suffering with this pain and that's all he said.
Ryan is very thorough and also kind and has a good knowledge base and explains things well
Very personable, attentive, knowledgeable and caring.
Very professional and knowledgeable! Good patient and doctor communication.
