The Future of 3D Printing
Funds from the 2023 Buckeye Cruise for Cancer benefited clinical 3D printing technology at Ohio State's Medical Modeling, Materials and Manufacturing (M4) Lab, led by Kyle VanKoevering, MD. With its ability to make models of a patient’s anatomy, 3D printing has tremendous potential to transform cancer treatment, particularly for head and neck cancers.

Helping Communities in Need
With support from the 2023 Buckeye Cruise Fund a Need, the new James Mobile Cancer Screening Unit will be hitting the road to serve communities traditionally facing barriers to care access. The unit will offer pelvic and prostate exams, colorectal cancer testing and a variety of other preventative and early detection services that save more lives.

The 2024 Buckeye Cruise for Cancer raised over $4.4 million, with $500,000 of proceeds from Fund a Need going toward a state-of-the-art liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry system. This leading-edge technology will allow our experts to advance their understanding of how food, water and environmental pollutants cause cancer, which could lead to developing novel strategies for prevention.
