Society of Fire Protection Engineers Burn Center Golf Outing

On Monday, September 26, a sold-out field of more than 150 golfers came together at Scioto Reserve Country Club for the 27th Annual Burn Center Golf Outing, presented by The Central Ohio Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. Each year the Central Ohio Chapter of SFPE holds a golf outing to raise money for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Burn Center. The Center for Burn Care at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center is a multidisciplinary center trained to care for patients with all types of burns. The unit sees hundreds of patients every year, including fire fighters who are injured in the line of duty. With the help of doctors, nurses, social workers, pharmacist and physical/occupational therapists, the team works to return every patient to their original lifestyle. A record $32,000 was raised from this year’s outing to support these efforts.

Mended Hearts of Central Ohio Gala

On Thursday, September 29th, heart failure research advocates Bo and Nancy Williams, along with Jeff and Helen Davidson and others from Mended Hearts of Central Ohio, hosted hundreds of supporters for a gala event at York Country Club to benefit the Courtney Williams Fund in Heart Failure Research. Silent auction items and a 50/50 raffle supported the fund raising efforts, while McGuffey Lane entertained the crowd. Thanks to many generous supporters, more than $48,000 was raised for heart failure research.
