I really enjoy teaching our residents and fellows, talking to patients and trying to make a difference in people’s lives.

Jayesh Vallabh, MD, melts a little whenever a patient tells him about being able to play with their kids again or go on walks with the grandkids for the first time.

As a father, these stories especially hit home for the assistant director of the Comprehensive Spine Center in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

“Probably one of my favorite things is our post-procedure follow-up appointments when patients tell us they’re so much better or back to activities they haven’t done in years,” he says.

Dr. Vallabh, who practices at Ohio State Outpatient Care Dublin, has helped build the pain management and rehabilitation spine program across the spectrum of academic medicine – from research to teaching to patient care.

He says he’s excited about working at Ohio State because it gives him the opportunity to help create larger collaborations and special programs that bring together various experts for the benefit of patients. As a clinical assistant professor and associate director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Dr. Vallabh is busy every day treating patients as well as teaching the next generation of health care providers.
