General Maintenance

Often referred to as the “first responders” for Facilities, our General Maintenance team addresses immediate facility needs through day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs. From fixing leaks and changing light bulbs to performing structural repairs, they ensure all buildings remain in top condition.

Electrical and Electronics

The Electrical and Electronics team handles everything from routine maintenance to urgent issues, supporting all critical electrical systems like nurse call systems, fire alarms, emergency power and electrical panels.

Building Systems

Our Building Systems team is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, comfortable and well-regulated environment throughout all buildings. They manage critical mechanical and utility systems, including HVAC, that directly impact patient care and comfort. Their expertise in heating, ventilation and temperature control is essential to ensure that operating rooms, labs and critical care areas function seamlessly.

Mechanical

Our Mechanical team maintains and repairs a wide range of systems – from boilers and air compressors to industrial equipment and water systems – playing a vital behind-the-scenes role in patient care.

New inpatient tower

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we’re gearing up for the spring 2026 opening of our groundbreaking new Inpatient Hospital tower that will redefine patient care and health care technology. In preparation for the official opening, we’re looking for talented individuals like you to play a vital role in this monumental project, contributing to key areas such as equipment installation, interior finishes and technology infrastructure.

As a member of our Facilities team, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, implementing state-of-the-art systems that elevate the standard of care and enhance the patient experience.

State-of-the-art facility

This 26-story, 1.9 million-square-foot building is the largest single facilities project ever undertaken at Ohio State, and it’s the 10th tallest building in Columbus. Upon completion, it will be one of the most patient-centered and technologically advanced health care facilities in the nation, featuring:

  • 820 private rooms
  • 234 ICU beds
  • 50 elevators
  • 900 miles of network cabling
  • 20 miles of fiber optic cables
  • 1,300+ wireless access points
  • 25,000 network connections controlled by 600 network switches
  • 5,000 real-time location service (RTLS) devices to track medical equipment and improve efficiency
