Amy Yau, MD, treats patients with kidney diseases at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
As a nephrologist, I’m passionate about diagnosing and managing kidney conditions to improve my patients’ quality of life. I am a certified hypertension specialist through the AHSCP and also specialize in treating patients with kidney stone disease, electrolyte disorders, and patients with kidney disease and cancer (onco-nephrology).
I value a team-based approach, and my patients can count on me to be a reliable partner in their health care journeys. I believe the first step in building a meaningful relationship is establishing trust and effective communication. I strive to educate patients and their families about their specific kidney disease, and I collaborate with each patient to develop a comprehensive care plan to address their individual goals.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

My doctor was compassionate, courtesy, informed, and generally seemed to care about how she could improve my health.

Dr. Yau is an excellent Nephrologist and really listens to her patients. Not even my primary care, doctor or the pharmacist that was assisting My primary doctor would listen to me about trying and Enilapril again. The first time around, I was taking a statin at the same time and it was the statin that was causing the issue not the Enilapril.

Dr. Yau was especially patient to explain her understanding of my condition, give information about possibilities of cause for it and to listen carefully to all my questions and answer them fully. Additionally, Dr. Yau was very personable which made me feel comfortable enough to discuss some of my behaviors that could have impact on the condition for which I was being seen. Remarkably good interpersonal communication skills.
Dr Yau is excellent. She not only explained my urine test results, but also gave me a copy and wrote down her suggestions on the results.
