Biography

I chose to subspecialize in infectious diseases because in my biased opinion this is the most interesting and rewarding field of medicine. I enjoy the challenge of diagnosing and treating a wide variety of infections all while providing compassionate and individualized care to my patients. I spend my time on the general inpatient infectious diseases service in the medical center as well as in my outpatient clinic. In clinic, I have a special interest in treating Hepatitis C, especially in patients with a history of addiction. I believe providing access to non-judgmental and empathetic care for all patients regardless of gender or background is of the upmost importance. In this spirit, I am most proud of my involvement with the Department of Internal Medicine Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council.

Aside from direct patient care, my two other main interests and responsibilities involve Antimicrobial Stewardship and teaching. As a medical director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, I work tirelessly to ensure appropriate antimicrobial use, dose, and duration in an effort to reduce and prevent the rise of antimicrobial resistance throughout the hospital and community. This is a collaborative role working closely with specialty trained pharmacists and microbiologists among others to continually monitor and improve the use of antibiotics for everyone. I particularly enjoy this work as it relies on strong communication and leadership skills for quality improvement.

Medical education is a key mission and important part of what we all do here at Ohio State. I teach learners at all levels including medical students, residents, and fellows. I coach a group of medical students through a Learning Community throughout the four years of medical school in my spare time.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, including my husband and three pets Zooey, Baby, and Blue.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Manning has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
