Biography
A large amount of my practice as an optometrist in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is dedicated to specialty contact lens designs for advanced eye disease. My specific interest involves scleral lenses. Scleral lenses treat a wide range of medical conditions including both corneal conditions and ocular surface disease. As much of my patient population has advanced eye disease, there is a great need for advanced lens designs; I am currently one of four certified EyePrintTM clinicians in Ohio. EyePrintTM is a technique designed for patients that are unable to be fit with traditional scleral lenses due to highly irregular surface disease, scarring, or poor tolerance to other lens designs. I also completed my PROSE clinical fellowship and will be one of two providers in Ohio certified for PROSE treatment.

Academics and research
The complex patient population and collaborative clinical setting motivated me to develop an optometric residency program. I am starting my ninth year as a Contact Lens/Ocular Disease Optometric Residency program director. I designed the residency program, which became accredited in 2014-2015 by the Accreditation Council of Optometric Education. In addition to clinical teaching through the residency, I have been a clinical preceptor for optometry student externs and have participated in lecturing to ophthalmology residents as part of the optics and contact lens curriculum.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Mundy has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Dr. Mundy was very helpful and answered all of my questions. She assessed my eyes/vision and suggested I try a different brand of contact lens to see if it will be more helpful. She has ordered the new contacts and she will assess them in my eyes on my next visit.

Dr. Mundy has been very helpful. She has carefully monitored my eyes because I had trouble with dry eyes, blepharitis and rocasea around my eyes last summer. I had a large chalazion removed from my left upper eyelid last summer. After that surgery, when Dr. Mundy saw me for my regular exam, she put me on a helpful routine with using a bruder mask daily and eye lid spray, as well as refresh optive 1 to 4 times a day. I have not had any more chalazions and my eyes feel more comfortable. The rosasea is a lot better as well

Dr. Mundy has worked tirelessly to try to create custom soft contact lenses for my highly irregular corneas. I requested Dr. Mundy create custom soft lenses because I have been do Impressed with her ability with my custom scleral lenses. She explained she would have less success with making custom soft lenses that would correct my vision the same way the scleral did, but I Insisted she try and improve my comfort and extend the length of wear time with having soft lenses. After many attempts I admit the corneas are too irregular to get a good fit and have reasonable correction. Currently I have almost perfect corrected vision thanks to Dr. Mundy's custom fit of my scleral lenses. I have 20+ years of age on the corneal transplant donor tissue that OSU corneal specialist Dr. Richard Lembach provided for me. He brought Dr. Mundy In to create the custom scleral lenses when other soft lenses and hard lenses were not correcting my vision. Dr. Mundy has always provided superior care of my dry eye condition as well as tried successfully to provide the best custom lenses for my specialized needs.
Dr. Mundy is in a class all her own and I appreciate all she does.

Dr. Mundy has worked with my for many years to fit scleral lenses that correct my vision to almost perfect acuity. I have been very happy with these lenses. As my eyes have aged I m not able to comfortably wear scleral for long periods of time, so I approached Dr. Mundy and requested she try to custom fit a second pair of contacts that are soft and will allow me to comfortably wear them for extended hours and be able to drive with them. Dr. Mundy and her Fellow are working towards successfully creating the custom pair of soft lenses at this time.

It appears that she doesn't seem to think my issue is a real concern, and seems irritated whenever she is in my room. It seems that my problem is Insignificant, and I feel that I have not been heard during the three visits there. It almost seems that my issue isn't a big concern, but to me it is.
I can not say enough kind words about my eye doctor, Dr. Mundy. She has been amazing and helped me get the best vision ever with my lenses. Her assistant doctor, is also patient and has been great through this experience. I am very grateful to have this clinic and these doctors!

Provider made me feel like I wasn't worth being seen. Was repeatedly reminded my issue wasn't that big of a deal (even though it impacts my daily life). Maybe if I was partially blind I would have received different treatment, but it also shouldn't take someone having a more serious medical issue to receive quality care/compassion and a plan forward.
