Biography

I practice full-spectrum family medicine, providing care to patients of all ages and across all care settings. I have a special interest in disease prevention and telemedicine. I’m in the process of completing additional training in point-of-care ultrasound, with the goal of utilizing this in my practice to provide real-time bedside diagnosis that can improve care and reduce costs. Outside of my work in clinic, I have a passion for the use of technology in health care and how technology can improve the health of our communities.

At my practice, I focus on creating a lasting and successful relationship with you. During the first visit, my hope is to learn about who you are, what you value and what health goals you have. Every subsequent visit, I hope to use shared-decision making and the best medical evidence to provide the care you need. This includes treating your physical and mental ailments with a specific focus on prevention.

I enjoy working at Ohio State because of the vast resources available that support me as a physician and allow me to offer my patients the highest level of care. Ohio State has world-renowned experts in medicine working on cutting-edge research–all of whom are available through a quick email. The focus on patient care, endless resources and cutting-edge innovation make Ohio State an ideal place to practice medicine.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, biking, DIY home projects, watching Ohio State football, and spending time with my wife, daughter, and dog.

Academics and research

My research interests include the implementation and impact of technology within medicine. Historically, this has been the impact of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) on clinical care. With the rapid advancement of technology, my interests are shifting toward understanding how machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) are reshaping both clinical practice and medical education. In the coming years, my research will focus on how technology impacts patient care and education. I have a special interest in identifying how educators can best train current medical students and resident physicians to be better physicians in a future where technology may change some of their roles.

I appreciate the commitment to innovation here in The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and the readily available resources that allow me to pursue highly complex research.

After my visit, Dr Patel took the initiative to call my cardiologist and Dr Savona to explain my A fib issues. As a result I will be going into going into the hospital for drug monitoring next week, much earlier would have been the case otherwise. I appreciate getting my A fib issues addressed quickly and thanks to Dr Patel for doing this.

He was amazing. Not the provider I normally see but he was very nice and he seemed genuinely concerned
