About Me
I’m an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, and provide compassionate and comprehensive care to all of my patients. Though I treat all infectious diseases, I have a particular interest in HIV clinical care and research. At Ohio State, I’m an associate professor and associate chief of clinical operations for the Division of Infectious Diseases.
Early in my career, I noticed that access to clinical care is a major issue for many people, particularly in rural areas, nursing homes, urban medical deserts and correctional facilities. As a physician, I made it my goal to improve access to care for patients, most projects involving the use of telehealth technologies such as synchronous video visits, asynchronous eConsults and educational programs. I have many peer-reviewed publications regarding the use of telemedicine to improve HIV care, particularly in correctional facilities. I was the first author on a landmark paper showing improved outcomes for prisoners with HIV infection when an expert, synchronous telemedicine program was implemented. This led to my involvement with the Infectious Disease Society of America (IDSA) Telehealth and Emerging Technologies Workgroup. I’ve been a leader in this group since its inception. As a group, we provide education via manuscripts, toolkits and lecture programs for infectious disease physicians across the globe.
I’m also passionate about medical education at Ohio State. I regularly work with medical students in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, I give lectures to students in the Ohio State College of Medicine throughout the academic year.
I enjoy working at Ohio State because we provide comprehensive, patient-focused care across the entire spectrum of disease and wellness. Whatever the clinical case or research question, our experts come together to implement the best solutions.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, watching classic films and — of course — spending time with my two young children.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
