Biography
All women deserve access to dedicated specialists who will listen to their concerns and treat their symptoms seriously. I became a gynecologic surgeon because I’m passionate about offering high quality, evidence-based surgical solutions tailored to each individual's unique needs and values. I’m committed to providing my patients with the best care possible and helping them to understand all of the health care options available.
Whenever possible, I provide my patients with minimally invasive options that will shorten recovery times and decrease postoperative pain. I perform surgeries using robotics and advanced laparoscopy and offer single-incision and vaginal surgery when appropriate. I aim to stay at the forefront of surgical innovation and can provide vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (Vnotes) and transcervical radiofrequency ablation for fibroids, using advanced technology known as Sonata®.
The most common conditions I treat include endometriosis, fibroids, heavy or painful periods, ovarian cysts and pelvic pain. My research is focused on ways to optimally treat these conditions and how to improve quality of life.
My fellowship in advanced gynecologic surgery and pelvic pain at the Mayo Clinic inspired me to remain in academic medicine. I love serving as a mentor to medical students and resident physicians. Because of the rich expertise of my colleagues and the diverse resources available to us, I believe The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is able to provide better and more complete care to patients.
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family and playing with my dog. I also enjoy cooking, reading and exploring Columbus.

Academics and research
My primary research is centered on developing strategies to enhance quality of life for women suffering from endometriosis. I also focus on research to advance surgical education and to promote quality improvement in the operating room. I'm passionate about using evidence-based minimally invasive treatment options to improve patient outcomes and reduce recovery time. I'm skilled with robotics, advanced laparoscopy, single-incision surgery and vaginal surgery.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Dr Misal Is best Gynecologist I've ever had. Very responsive, always seems to care about my concerns and she is very thorough!

Dr. Meenal Misal listened to my concerns and showed empathy. She thoroughly reviewed my surgery options.
She gave me some very important information and she was very caring and honest
Dr. Missal spent 45 mins talking to me about my chronic problems. She read my chart beforehand and knew my whole history, and is one of few providers I can say who have done that.
Dr. Misal was awesome. I thought she really listened to me and we have a plan of care which is great.
Dr. Misal was very professional and respectful during my visit. She made sure she understood the reasons for my visit which was a referral and explained my options for treatment including the benefits and risk and even asked about my existing issues with perimenopause which are often ignored or discounted by other physicians I have seen in the past.
She gave many options and explained them thoroughly even though I wasn't ready to decide right away. I felt well informed, but also "safe."
I can't say enough good about my provider! She was so very sweet and kind. Dr. Misal provided great care and made me feel content and comfortable in knowing she was confident and there for me throughout my pre op, operation, and post care. I would most certainly recommend her to others.

My doctor came in looked at notes and discussed my questions I had written out also allowed me to ask if can run urine to be safe with back pain. I now have another appt for ultrasound and a tune up check with PFT

The care provider was alright she did not seem genuine although she was acting in a way which conveyed genuinely. She asked unnecessary questions and I do not believe the student assistant and provider could have done better when addressing me and my needs.
