As an ophthalmologist and corneal specialist, I specialize in medical and surgical care for corneal disease including keratoconus, Fuch’s corneal dystrophies, corneal transplants, corneal cross-linking and cataract surgeries. I find my work very meaningful and love restoring people’s sight. I also have extensive training in LASIK surgery and the treatment of cataracts, dry eye and pterygium.
My favorite part about working at Ohio State is the variety of patients and conditions that I have the opportunity to treat. I treat routine conditions such as cataracts, as well as complex conditions like corneal transplantation. My colleagues and I work together as a team to care for patients with some of the most challenging eye conditions.
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my wife and extended family, and rooting for the Buckeyes, of course!

Doctor was very attentive when I explained my general medical condition , 4th stage Colon Cancer and 4th stage Peritineum Cancer , and my condition that I was seeing him for on Friday, aStye on my left eye, same eye I've qhad Optic Shingles and a Detached Retina.
He answered all my questions and he had a pleasant bedside manner.
I was there for a study visit. All was fine
Dr. Oostra was very thorough in his evaluation of may current visual needs and the progression of an eye condition that was impairing my ability to use my computer, posture, neck pain, and other health conditions I am currently dealing with. These other health conditions have been worsened by poor visual acuity. He determined I needed laser surgery on both eyes and skillfully performed both surgeries to Improve my vision In both eyes to 20/40 from 20/200 In the right eye and 20/45 In the left eye. I was able to see clearly that same day following surgery and my acuity has not been this clear for over 40 years.
