Biography
I became a primary care provider because I am passionate about helping my patients achieve their health goals and improve their quality of life. In my role at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I perform routine health screenings and treat chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, asthma, thyroid issues and enlarged prostate. I am also board certified in osteopathic manipulation and can help treat musculoskeletal conditions.
When patients come to see me, they can expect an empathetic and compassionate approach. I always work directly with my patients to find treatment solutions tailored to fit their goals and values. Imam al-Shafi’i, a famous classical Muslim jurist, once said, 'I’m not aware of anything after [Islamic knowledge] more noble than the knowledge of medicine.' What drives me is that by practicing medicine, I am continuing this noble art to serve my community.
The Ohio State University is a large, modern institution with state-of-the-art resources that enable advanced patient care, and I am thrilled to continue my career here. I also appreciate that as an academic facility, working physicians can take part in something bigger than themselves by getting involved in research projects. I am excited about participating in research that can help move medicine forward.
When I’m not working, I love playing with and teaching my two toddlers. When I have a minute to myself, I like to split my time between growing spiritually and learning about my Islamic faith and growing physically by trying to challenge myself in bodyweight fitness or playing soccer.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Aasim Soomro has reported no relationships with companies or entities.

He listens to me and gives me information to make informed decisions about my health.
The doctor was thorough, explained clearly, kind, and friendly.
No bad experiences. I was thrilled to be seen by a doctor having just "walked in off the street" with no appointment scheduled.
Very thorough and detailed
Dr Soomro is the best , just like Mary Jo Welker, Holly Cronau, Dr Bartman need I say more???
He listened to everything I had to say. Knew my health history enough to reference my initial communication about the problem even though he is not my regular practitioner. Very kind and respectful. Definitely took time to answer my questions and explain answers in detail.
He was friendly and thorough in evaluating my health concerns.
Very pleasant
Doctor is very calm and friendly and knowledgeable
Best appointment ever.
There were 3 reasons for this appointment. Priority order for me: 1) controlled medication follow-up and refill. 2) hip pain 3) establish new patient. Dr Soomro spent a lot of time going through every detail of my history, including family history, and adding into to my records... Including people's names vs just having relationship listed. I didn't mind, until he asked me if there was anything else ... Well yes, there was, and I told him I needed medication refill - he said he already got that (he had not even asked how I was doing on the medication). He was about to lock out of the computer when I asked if he saw that I was also there for hip pain. He scrolled through the page then asked me to tell him about the pain, but I don't feel that he listened to me much at this point as I described the pain. He said he made a referral to sports medicine, It was nice to meet me and then left. If he would not have spent so much time on family history, with names and specific dates or previous surgeries (some over 40 years ago) he would have had more time and would have hopefully listen to me about current conditions.
Couldn't ask for a better doctor. He explained everything to where I could understand it
Courteous and respectful and listens
Nothing bad at all
Dr Soomro is an outstanding doctor. Incredibly friendly - I always feel welcomed and genuinely cared about. He is extremely thorough, and I have never felt rushed by him (which is more impactful than you think!). On this most recent visit, he ordered a test that gave me more information about my condition - I honestly think he is the first person to look at that issue! I can't say enough good things about Dr Soomro.
Very thorough and explained everything as he went
Dr. Soomro is extremely thorough and efficient. I also find him to be a wonderful, caring human being. I'd be disappointed to lose him as my provider.
Dr.Soomro is great. Period.
There is no bad experience
Top Notch!
