Primary Care - Family Medicine
Department: Family Medicine
I became a primary care provider because I am passionate about helping my patients achieve their health goals and improve their quality of life. In my role at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I perform routine health screenings and treat chronic conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, asthma, thyroid issues and enlarged prostate. I am also board certified in osteopathic manipulation and can help treat musculoskeletal conditions.
When patients come to see me, they can expect an empathetic and compassionate approach. I always work directly with my patients to find treatment solutions tailored to fit their goals and values. Imam al-Shafi’i, a famous classical Muslim jurist, once said, 'I’m not aware of anything after [Islamic knowledge] more noble than the knowledge of medicine.' What drives me is that by practicing medicine, I am continuing this noble art to serve my community.
The Ohio State University is a large, modern institution with state-of-the-art resources that enable advanced patient care, and I am thrilled to continue my career here. I also appreciate that as an academic facility, working physicians can take part in something bigger than themselves by getting involved in research projects. I am excited about participating in research that can help move medicine forward.
When I’m not working, I love playing with and teaching my two toddlers. When I have a minute to myself, I like to split my time between growing spiritually and learning about my Islamic faith and growing physically by trying to challenge myself in bodyweight fitness or playing soccer.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Very good
No problem
The care provider was excellent
He listened to my concerns and answered my questions thoroughly. He took his time with me and didn't hurry me along. He explained the tests from the blood draw and potential prescription I might need.
Dr. Soomro is a good listener, provides in-depth answers to questions, and is very helpful.
He was great
He was efficient, friendly and answered my questions
Dr. Soomro is an excellent physician, he listens well and asks key questions. He knows my medical history and makes sure I get my vaccinations, needed blood work, and prescriptions renewed.
Best doctor I gad
He was running late and in a hurry. He asked me a question and didn't really listen to the answer. My problem was really not addressed. We could have just done that visit over a MyChart message if he wasn't going to listen.
Great
Always enjoy my visits with Dr. Soomro.
All excellent
Dr Soomro is entirely too focused on weight. At every visit he speaks to walking 10k steps and the BMI when it is a known fact that neither of these are supported by evidence.
Very friendly
He was very attentive in listening to every detail I said on the medical issue I had.
Good
Excellent service all
Through examination and evaluation
Very conscientious and thorough. Didn't assume anything about my care and provided great education.
