About Me
I chose emergency medicine because I am passionate about providing exceptional and compassionate care to patients when they need it the most. I’m proud to work with a highly motivated, cohesive team at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, capable of treating anyone who needs our help.
My approach is driven by a philosophy of servant leadership, and I’m motivated every day by the opportunity to address my patients’ acute needs and make a positive difference in their lives.
I was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after volunteering in a local emergency department (ED) as a teenager. Before becoming a board-certified emergency medicine physician, I gained experience working as an ED registration clerk, ED clinical research assistant, and as an emergency medical technician.
My clinical experience informs my academic work as a health services researcher. I am focused on developing strategies that improve delivery of acute, unscheduled care while reducing inefficiency and fragmentation. I am very excited about the mobile integrated health care and community paramedicine (MIH-CP) model, which explores ways to expand access to quality care beyond the hospital and into community settings by leveraging emergency medical services (EMS). One of the most satisfying pieces of working at an academic medical center is the ability to solve a real-world clinical problem through multidisciplinary research and then go to a shift and see those changes put into action.
My role also includes helping to educate the next generation of providers. I serve as an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and was previously honored with the Teacher of the Year Award from the Department of Emergency Medicine.
My responsibilities include mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students in emergency care research and collaborating with HealthNow, the City of Columbus Division of Fire, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as part of my funded emergency medical services research. I serve on the advisory group for the Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics, and Systems Thinking in Health Services and Implementation Science Research (CATALYST) postdoctoral training program in the College of Medicine. In addition, I am currently the vice chair for mobile integrated health care at the National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians (NAEMSP).

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
