About Me
A. LeBron Paige, MD, MS, FAES, is an adult epileptologist, associate professor of Neurology, and medical director of the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and EEG Laboratory at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In my practice, I manage a wide variety of patients with epilepsy on both the inpatient and outpatient levels. I have extensive experience in anti-seizure medication management, epilepsy presurgical evaluation and management of implantable stimulators for epilepsy.
My experience in both academic epilepsy medicine and building nonacademic regional epilepsy centers has illustrated the tremendous gap in knowledge and lack of access to basic epilepsy care. This has led me to focus my advocacy work on education, specifically by ensuring patients and families are made aware of the many available treatments and how to best access this care. I am also proud to serve as medical director of Camp YouCan, a sleepover summer camp for kids with epilepsy held each summer in Omaha, Nebraska.
My current research is influenced by my training in electrical and biomedical engineering and prior aerospace industry experience. I am focused on applying advanced engineering methods such as artificial intelligence, chatbots, radio frequency seizure detection and advanced sensor technology to problems in epilepsy. These problems include the development of home-based epilepsy diagnostic testing, non-EEG seizure prediction, improved seizure safety and enhanced quality of life in patients with epilepsy.
Prior funded research centered on developing innovative three-dimensional statistical methods of imaging analysis to more precisely identify where a patient’s seizures arise in the brain. This more accurate localization method is now routinely used to improve presurgical evaluations and enhance care. I am also an affiliate faculty member with the NeuroTech Institute (NTI), which is a joint biotechnology venture between Ohio State and Batelle Corporation focused on restoring human potential to those suffering from neurological disorders.
In addition to my clinical and scientific responsibilities, my role includes helping to train the next generation of physicians. I am an associate professor in the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I am a fellow of the American Epilepsy Society (AES) and a member of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) and the American Academy of Neurology (AAN).

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Paige has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
