Physician, Assistant Professor
Infectious Disease
Department: Internal Medicine
As a board-certified internal medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I specialize in infectious diseases in immunocompromised hosts, focusing on infections in those with hematologic malignancies, stem cell transplants, and cellular therapies such as CAR-T, with a particular interest in invasive fungal infections. As an active member of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, I am dedicated to advancing antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship to optimize therapy and improve outcomes in this high-risk population.
My approach is rooted in compassionate care, clear communication, and teamwork. I am dedicated to mentoring future clinicians as an assistant clinical professor of Internal Medicine.
Please note: Not all physicians schedule patients at each listed location.
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Al Safi has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
