Biography

As a clinical neuropsychologist, I specialize in evaluating and treating patients for acute brain injuries and various neurological conditions. My role at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center includes serving as the lead consulting neuropsychologist on the inpatient traumatic brain injury (TBI) service.

In addition, I provide comprehensive outpatient neuropsychological assessments for patients with acquired brain injuries, including TBI and stroke. I also offer outpatient cognitive rehabilitation intervention services. I am passionate about supporting patients’ independence, quality of life, cognitive functioning and long-term brain health, and I work collaboratively with other multidisciplinary specialists to ensure that each patient receives optimal care.

Patients can rely on me for personalized care plans tailored to their unique needs and values. I take the time to understand how changes in brain function are affecting each person’s daily life, and I translate neuropsychological findings into clear, practical recommendations for patients, families and treatment teams.

Academics and research

I am an assistant clinical professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Division of Rehabilitation Psychology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. My research centers on strategies to improve participation outcomes and quality of life for people who have experienced acquired brain injuries, including traumatic brain injury and strokes. I also focus on understanding the efficacy of cognitive rehabilitation interventions as treatments for cognitive dysfunction related to various neurological conditions.

I have coauthored multiple articles published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Head Trauma and Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Psychology and the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology. I also often present my research at national and international conferences.

I have been involved in organizational leadership throughout my training and currently hold service leadership positions in national and international professional organizations. I am the founder and co-chair of the Early Career Committee at the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN), co-chair of the AACN Student Programming Committee, and I serve as the early career representative of the International Neuropsychological Society (INS) Intervention Special Interest Group.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 11/3/2025, Amanda Wisinger has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
