Biography

As an Ob/Gyn, I have the privilege of caring for women throughout their lives. I truly value the relationships that form with my patients throughout their pregnancy or over the years of routine care. Whenever I meet a new patient, I always take the time to listen to their concerns and how these affect their life. Having a doctor that you can trust is essential to getting good medical care. I’m always straightforward with all of my patients, letting them know all of their options for treatment before deciding on the right one that fits their medical history, their personal goals and values, and their lives. I believe in empowering and educating women about their health care and their bodies so that we can work together to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Working at Ohio State has also been a great opportunity to teach medical students and residents in addition to providing excellent medical care for patients. Teaching is a passion of mine and is part of the reason that I chose to pursue a PhD while in medical school. Having studied engineering in addition to medicine has given me a different perspective on both teaching and patient care, and has given me a lot of training in problem solving, which is a large part of practicing medicine as well!

I love teaching medical students. They are so excited about learning to become doctors and love every opportunity they have to interact with patients and learn. Their excitement is contagious, and they inspire me to strive toward being the ideal doctor that they imagine themselves becoming. I’m proud to be a longitudinal preceptor for these students throughout their first two years of medical school. I also love training residents and working with them to care for patients, passing on knowledge that I’ve gained from the great teachers that I’ve had. I work with them often in the resident clinic, the operating room, and labor and delivery, and truly thrive when I’m with them. Apart from working directly with residents, I get to support our family medicine residency program on a structural level as Ob/Gyn representative on the Family Medicine Residency OB Quality Committee.

In addition to being an excellent teaching hospital, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center also always provides excellent care. I’m proud to work at an institution where I know my patients will receive the best possible care in every way, from the students, residents, our excellent nurses, support team and consultants.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. Together, we love going for walks, swimming and having fun! I also enjoy reading and playing piano – during the pandemic, I decided to return to playing piano, which I had enjoyed throughout school, and I have started taking lessons again!

Academics and research

My current work looks at how to make pregnancy and women’s health care safer and easier to navigate. This includes studying risk factors linked to complications after delivery—such as infections after cesarean birth—and improving care pathways for problems like heavy periods and PCOS by using clear, patient-friendly education and shared decision-making. The goal is to help future patients have fewer complications, get faster relief from symptoms, and choose treatments that fit their lives.

I have authored peer‑reviewed journal articles and presented my findings at professional meetings.

I appreciate the commitment to innovation here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and the opportunity to participate in ground‑breaking clinical trials. I am passionate about contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge and developing novel solutions that allow us to significantly improve patient outcomes.
