Biography
I am the director of the Stress, Trauma and Resilience (STAR) Program within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I also work alongside a faculty partner to lead the Gabbe Well-Being Office that focuses on supporting the well-being of those that work and learn at the medical center. Additionally, I serve as a senior lecturer in the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. My work focuses on supporting individuals and organizations impacted by trauma, stress, and burnout, particularly within health care and community settings.
My current work centers on helping people recover from trauma and build resilience in the face of chronic stress and major life challenges. Through the STAR Program, I lead initiatives that provide trauma informed care, peer support, and education for patients, health care professionals, first responders, and other helping professionals. The goal of this work is to promote emotional well being, reduce burnout, and help individuals develop practical skills to cope with stress, loss, and adversity. By strengthening resilience at both the individual and organizational level, this work aims to improve mental health, workplace well being, and long term recovery for those affected by trauma.
I have contributed to professional education and scholarship in behavioral health, including authorship in nationally recognized resources on crisis intervention. I am actively involved in leadership and professional service focused on advancing standards of care, workforce wellness, and trauma informed practices across health systems and community organizations.
I value the commitment to innovation, compassion, and whole person care at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I am passionate about creating supportive environments that prioritize mental health, foster resilience, and empower individuals and teams to heal, grow, and thrive in the face of adversity.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Galligher has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
