Biography
I practice in otolaryngology, which focuses on ear, nose and throat health. I specialize in rhinology, an area of medicine emphasizing the nose and sinus conditions. My specialties include sinus surgery and endoscopic skull base surgery.
My goal is to deliver therapy that is tailored to each individual patient. I believe in engaging each patient to achieve this goal. I seek to first identify an accurate diagnosis and then recommend the best form of therapy for that patient.
I enjoy the people I work with at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I appreciate the positive atmosphere and dedication to excellent patient care. These are qualities that are exhibited at all times at Ohio State.
When I'm not on the job I take time to relax with my family, attend Ohio State football games and enjoy the outdoors. I also really enjoy playing the guitar.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

I understand Dr Otto needs to maximize his time to analyze my sinus issues. I had visited two NRT doctors without satisfaction and I wished to convey my frustrations. He was adamant about the facts leading to my visit. I felt listening to my history was integral to analyzing purpose to seek further medical attention. I was interrupted twice when attempting to convey my prior experiences with ENT doctors. Out of frustration I retorted "I'll just stop talking". At this point I was thinking this was going to be just another "cattle call". Afterwards, Dr Otto was very empathetic and reflected on my prior health care. I understand patients my age (73) want to have someone with great "bedside manners" which can lead to less time to provide advice. It's been only three days since my visit and I am experiencing great improvement. Dr. Otto is now on my hero's list.

The rudest Physician / Surgeon I ever saw in my 51 years of life. Showed zero empathy about my concerns and several times during the appointment said he had the same condition as me and he just "dealt with it". Asked several times If I wanted a surgery or not, without even examining me. I expected at least a Surgeon that would listen, examine the patient and then discuss the need or not to have a surgery. Refer to the Neurologist as the "head doctor" when first making reference to the need to see one; Im not a doctor, but I certainly know what a Neurologist is, I believe I used a level of vocabulary during the appointment that could have been given Dr. Otto the clue that I knew what a Neurologist was. I felt as if Dr. Otto wanted to be somewhere else besides in the room. I almost asked if something was wrong, because if he was having a bad day, it was not my fault, so I shouldn't have to be treated that poorly. He could have canceled the appointment-as It happened before. Very disappointing to say the least.

Dr. Otto truly blessed me. He tried his very best to find the problem, listened and cared for me as If I was a sibling with genuine loving kindness. He went the distance referring me to a neurosurgeon and a neurologist. THANKS BE TO God!

The provider seemed to be in a hurry. I felt some frustration and impatience. The diagnosis shocked me. My first husband passed away from esophageal cancer at James 18 years ago.

I was shocked by the way the doctor spoke to me and how he failed to address any of my concerns. Instead, he transferred me to another doctor, which felt like a waste of my time and money.
The resident doctor spent very quality and professional time with me asking questions and checking me out. Professional and thorough.

I had not seen Dr. Otto for a number of years. He knew my history from 2011 and found his notes and my images, etc. He gave me great advice on several problems, scheduled me for further testing, and responses quickly to my chart messages. He is delightful to talk to both professional and easy to talk to. One of the best doctors I have every interfaced with.

Dr. Otto was understandably questioning why I had been referred by Dr. Kim. I explained my history with sinus issues and what my PCP's MRI had shown and what my PCP suggested. Dr Otto explained that I may not gain any relief from sinus pain but agreed that fixing my deviated septum and "cleaning out my sinuses" would be a good thing.

Visit was short and he answered all my questions and he removed stunt from tear duct.
Dr. Otto worked with me for months trying to prevent another surgery, I did have to have another surgery but Dr. Otto explained everything and always took time to answer questions.

Nothing really has taken place. CT Scan ordered. Dr pretty quickly seemed to decide that I didn't have a sinus problem, although I have drainage, blowing and coughing every day. It seemed as though he didn't believe the symptoms that I described.

Dr Otto is awesome! He is knowledgeable but doesn't explain things in complicated medical terms that the average person can't follow. He is thorough, listens to concerns, answers questions, never makes you feel rushed and overall leaves you feeling like you're in the best hands possible.
The provider did not listen to me first but took my story and info from the intern before he came in. When the Dr arrived he was dismissive of my questions and was unable to explain terms or his opinion on my care in a way I could easily understand. I left with many more questions than answers and was told repeatedly to "check MyChart" for conditions and medication he was talking about instead of explaining it. I was extremely disappointed, especially after waiting for 6 weeks for an appointment for a condition I'd been dealing with for 3.5 months. He was unsympathetic and dismissive.
