Biography
I am a board-certified Family Medicine physician specializing in palliative medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I focus on improving quality of life for patients with serious illnesses by managing symptoms and providing emotional and spiritual support.
I am also board certified in Geriatric Medicine and feel passionate about caring for older adults. Part of my lifelong career focus has been helping older adults choose wisely regarding important health care decisions.
My past experience includes nursing home medical director, hospice medical director, inpatient palliative medicine medical director, outpatient comprehensive geriatric consultation, inpatient geriatric consultations, and providing inpatient hospice care. I currently run the CARDS palliative outpatient clinic at the Ross Heart Hospital caring for patients with heart failure, heart transplant, LVADs, and other serious cardiac issues.
My patients and their families can rely on me for compassionate, holistic care and honest communication. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure each patient receives care that aligns with their values and goals. I grew up in Medina, OH and am dedicated to bringing excellent care across our great state to patients from both big and small towns.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an associate clinical professor of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where I am dedicated to teaching and mentoring future physicians.

I am glad to finally see a palliative doctor that gets what a cancer patient needs.
This was the first visit to this office and initial meeting with Dr. Carlisle, and he was instantly a reassuring and helpful source of a new strategy for dealing with the quality of life issues that I am hoping to have as I face the prospects of living with cancer. This was uplifting and hopeful, and his understanding of me and how to ease this passage I face was positive and very much designed with my life exactly, which was very reassuring and even joyful. I am very grateful to be under his care and support.
