Biography
As a podiatrist, I diagnose and treat patients for various conditions affecting their feet and ankles. I specialize in using minimally invasive approaches to treat traumatic injuries, as well as during elective surgical procedures.
I am certified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM), which provide up-to-date treatment recommendations to optimize patient outcomes. I am also committed to treating my patients as if they were family. I believe that fostering a genuine, trusting relationship with patients facilitates effective communication and enhances care.
I appreciate the emphasis on research here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and I am committed to helping advance the treatment options in my specialty. I am also passionate about helping to educate the next generation of podiatrists. I am an assistant clinical professor of Orthopaedics and I am active with the Podiatric Residency Program at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Dr. McFerren Is a wonderful and professional physician. I always feel comfortable seeing him and know that he is going to treat me with respect. Although he cannot fully treat my condition (which is not his fault at all), he tries his hardest to find ways to help me cope with my chronic foot issues and wants to still be involved in my care. And I seriously commend him for messaging me on MyChart on a Sunday to give me the results of my MRI. He didn't have to do that but that just shows what an amazing provider he is. Seriously, there needs to be more providers like him.

Dr McFerrin is AMAZING! He clearly tells you what he's doing n why n asks if I have any questions. I feel like he truly cares about helping me get better not just another patient to see and care for and get on to the next patient. OSU Doctors are by far more attentive and caring then other doctors I've seen. And they all seem to work together well

Dr. McFerren really took the time to listen to my concers and answer all of my questions thoroughly. I was anxious that I would need two ingrown toenail cut but Dr. McFerren put me at ease by explaining all of my treatment options. I decided on a treatment to be done at that time. I was scared for the procedure, but Dr. McFarren made it as painless as possible. He distracted me by talking to me and kept checking in on me to make sure I was feeling at ease. I really appreciated his efforts to make me comfortable during a stressful time. He was absolutely wonderful.

Dr. McFerran seemed genuinely concerned about my foot and ankle pain. He ordered x-rays, etc. To find out exactly where the source of the pain is coming from. He checked over the foot and ankle carefully. He is a good listener and it was obvious that he really wanted to help me.
Very nice explains what needed done and explained in easy to understand terms. I was just diagnosed as diabetic & had a patch of dry skin between my toes - I picked it and it started to bleed - my primary endrochronolist referred me to Podiatry & I was very happy with Caleb
