Biography
I am Claire Alexander, PhD, a clinical neuropsychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in neuropsychology, including evaluations of cognitive functioning and dementia. My psychology practice focuses on helping adults with neurological and complex medical conditions better understand changes in thinking, memory, and daily functioning.
As a clinical neuropsychologist and assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, I have broad training in psychological and neurological conditions, with expertise in working with individuals with complex medical histories and older adults.
I take an individualized, evidence-based approach to every evaluation, with the goal of informing treatment recommendations and maximizing the patients’ quality of life. Neuropsychological assessment involves integrating psychological, social, functional, and cognitive information from patients and families, along with medical records and test results, to develop a comprehensive understanding of a person's strengths and challenges. It is important to me that patients and their families feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the evaluation process. I strive to provide clear, compassionate feedback that helps patients better understand their condition and empowers them to make informed decisions about their care.

I am Claire Alexander, assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I specialize in cognition and aging, patient outcomes, and psychosocial factors that influence cognitive health. My research focuses on cognitive aging, neurological conditions, and the factors that shape patient experiences and outcomes.
My research background is rooted in geriatrics and cognitive aging. I have contributed to research examining risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and investigating psychosocial functioning in healthy aging populations. Through quantitative research methods, including observational studies, surveys, and questionnaires, I study how cognitive, behavioral, and social factors affect health and well-being across the lifespan.
My current and future research interests center on improving outcomes for individuals living with neurological conditions. I am particularly interested in understanding psychosocial outcomes, identifying opportunities to enhance quality of life, and advancing quality improvement initiatives within clinical settings. Through this work, I aim to support patient-centered care and contribute to strategies that improve both patient health outcomes and the delivery of neurological care.
