Biography

I am Delvise Fogwe, MD, a gastroenterologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in gastrointestinal diseases, hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes, colon polyps, Barrett's esophagus, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhea. My practice focuses on comprehensive gastroenterology care, advanced endoscopy, and also personalized cancer prevention strategies for patients at increased risk of gastrointestinal malignancies.

I chose a career in medicine because I wanted the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives during some of their most vulnerable moments. Gastroenterology was especially appealing because it combines advanced procedural medicine with the ability to prevent disease, detect cancer early and improve patients' quality of life.

I provide comprehensive general gastroenterology care while maintaining a specialized focus on patients with hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes and those at increased risk for gastrointestinal cancers. My clinical and academic interests include hereditary cancer syndromes, serrated polyposis syndrome and germline mutations affecting the colon, stomach, and small intestine.

I perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, endoscopy, advanced polypectomy techniques and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for the removal of complex colorectal polyps. I am passionate about integrating genetic risk assessment, advanced endoscopic therapies, and multidisciplinary collaboration to develop personalized surveillance and cancer prevention plans for high-risk patients.

My experiences in academic medicine have reinforced my commitment to lifelong learning, innovation and collaboration. Serving in leadership and mentorship roles strengthened my appreciation for education as an essential component of advancing patient care and shaped my approach to combining clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, and continuous learning.

I listen carefully, value shared decision-making, and provide compassionate, personalized and evidence-based care. My goal is to help each patient better understand their condition, feel confident in their care plan and achieve the best possible digestive health.
