About Me
I am an internal medicine physician specializing in caring for hospitalized patients. Whether managing chronic illnesses, acute conditions or complex medical cases, I provide high-quality, compassionate and personalized care tailored to the individual’s needs. My approach is based on empathy, dedication and a commitment to improving each person’s health outcomes. I take the time to listen, educate and partner with my patients so they feel empowered and heard.
Medicine is more than a profession to me. It is a lifelong commitment to service, learning and advocacy for my patients' well-being. From an early stage in my education, I was drawn to internal medicine for its breadth and depth, allowing me to form meaningful connections with patients while addressing complex medical conditions. Over time, my career evolved to include addiction medicine, medical education and evidence-based medicine, all of which have deepened my commitment to patient-centered care.
As a board-certified addiction medicine physician, I contribute to inpatient addiction treatment services, integrating evidence-based approaches to support recovery. This experience allows me to support patients with substance use disorders, helping them navigate recovery with dignity and respect. My experience in academic medicine also ensures that I stay up-to-date with the latest medical advancements, incorporating innovative research into my clinical practice.
While clinical care is at the core of my work, I am also passionate about research. My scholarly work focuses on advancing medical education, particularly in competency-based assessments, curriculum development and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. These efforts aim to bridge gaps in medical training and improve learner outcomes.
As a clinician-educator, I have helped shape medical student and resident education through curriculum design, assessment development and clinical teaching. My leadership in EBM education and assessment at The Ohio State University College of Medicine has allowed me to innovate and refine teaching strategies, ensuring students develop the critical thinking skills essential for modern medical practice. I have also mentored medical students as a Portfolio Coach, a Longitudinal Practice Preceptor, and the student review committee. In these and other roles, my aim is to improve medical education, mentor future physicians and contribute to the continuous advancement of clinical training at the Ohio State College of Medicine.
I am also proud to contribute to national medical education initiatives. I serve on the Society of General Internal Medicine’s (SGIM) Evidence-Based Medicine Task Force and the Aquifer Internal Medicine Author Committee. Through these roles, I have developed high-quality educational resources, authored peer-reviewed publications and advanced medical education on a national level. Additionally, I recognized a need for practical billing education. I co-developed a national curriculum on inpatient and outpatient billing, released through the SGIM’s GIM Learn platform. This initiative ensures residents and early-career physicians gain essential billing and documentation skills.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
