About Me
I provide preventive health care and treat infectious diseases in my role in the Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I am especially passionate about ensuring quality care for patients in the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities.
I regularly treat conditions including HIV, hepatitis C, sexually transmitted infections (STI), gender affirming care, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). My extensive experience includes treating patients at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, including serving in vaccination clinics.?
At The Ohio State University, patients benefit from a team-based approach. Practicing in such a prestigious academic environment allows me access to the latest innovations and recommendations in the field, which in turn helps me provide the best care possible to a wide variety of patients from around central Ohio. I also love training medical students, residents and pre-meds, while simultaneously learning from their perspective as well.
In my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and dog. I like reading, cycling and playing the occasional video game.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Magana has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Very knowledgeable, made care decisions that were best for me. I was happy to find the diagnosis and follow his advice. Spent enough time to allow me to ask questions and explain myself. Gave good advice for me to follow with over-the-counter medications.
His medication instructions were unclear but I was able to write him through MyChart.
Dr. Magana is always very open, honest, direct and very kind. I appreciate that he tells me straight out answers to me questions
He also does primary care and id go to him in a heartbeat.
Good
Amazing!! Hope they never leave OSU
He was extremely helpful and very kind
He is an excellent professional and person cares about his patients
I was scheduled with Dr. Magana because my usual provider, Dr. Bhatt, was fully scheduled. Clearly and impressively, Dr. Magana had reviewed my chart extensively prior to my visit.
Dr. Magana has been prepared for my visits and answers questions that I have had in a way a non-medical person can understand. I have already referred him to friends.
Dr. Magana is great. He listens, provides good advice, and always takes time to educate me. He has really helped motivate me to develop healthier habits.
Professional, caring, empathetic, communicative, smart. Dr. Magana always listens openly and never acts rushed. We discussed my concerns and he gave me answers and a plan to move forward with resources to accomplish my goals of better help. A follow up appointment was scheduled.
Thorough explanations, did not feel rushed, professional & I felt like I could ask any questions
Dr Magano was concerned, kind, took his time with me
Doctor was thorough in discussing my medical history & challenges. His manner was relaxed, caring yet professional.
Dr Magana is the best doctor I have beyond dr Sardesia which is in the OSUstephanie Spielman center at OSU.
I discussed prior care from specialists both within OSU network and outside OSU network and their suggestions to reengage with a neurologist with particular expertise in peripheral neuropathy. Before leaving the facility my primary care physician had made the necessary referral and staff had made a timely appointment.
Very detailed in my history
Best PCP I've had
I have nothing bad to say about him. He is so good to me. Very empathetic, respectful,n professional.
Warm efficient professional. Took enough time with me. Took the time to review my history. Went over preventative measures I could do to maintain health. I really appreciated that.
Good
I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Magana as my provider. He is personal, listens, gives practical, useful advice that is easy to understand, and treats me as an individual.
Very good
It was a good follow up visit
Too in a hurry to leave the room. Not listened to my concerns. It's my health you are there so recommend not push.
I have never had a Care provider before as a adult. I am very happy to have him as my PCP. He makes me feel comfortable to talk about medical concerns. I can't express how greatful I am to have him and the team to go to for anything medical.
This provider was one of the best experiences I've ever had in the health field in my life and I am 47 years old. So, for 47 years I have never my life felt so comfortable, important, sincere concern, I cannot say enough great things about this doctor. He was absolutely wonderful! He took all the time I needed to explain each and every question I had and even went on to tell me if I ever had a question and he didn't know the answer to that we would find the answer together. I was blown away to be honest with you. I've never really had a family doctor and I was a little anxious and somewhat nervous about this visit and to be honest was not expecting it to go as good as it went. He really and truly is one of the best doctors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Other doctors should definitely take some notes from him because he definitely sets the bar very very high and you guys are very very lucky to have him. I live an hour and a half away but I will continue to see this man for my family doctor as long as he will have me. It doesn't bother me at all to drive an hour and a half to see a doctor like him, he definitely makes it well worth my time!
Very thorough and kind
Interest in my health
Dr. Magana (sp?) is not my regular provider but he was SO great-he was very thorough and thoughtful about my care. I needed a CT scan the day before Thanksgiving-he managed to send in an Rx I needed after the scan and before the pharmacy closed so I would not be completely miserable over the holiday while waiting for my culture. I am SO GRATEFUL he tended to this-I think he went above and beyond to give me the next care and not over-prescribe medicine I didn't need. I would recommend him to anyone as a PCP.
Dr. Magana is a wonderful physician; intelligent and compassionate. He was extremely knowledgeable and I really appreciate the time he spent asking questions.
Very well informed and provided answers to all my questions and concerns.
Everything was good.
Doctor took his time, and was very thorough.
Good, appreciate that he cares about mental health in addition to physical. He spent a lot of time in the room
Very thoughtful & careful listener. Made me feel heard and more than my medical problems.
Most importantly, he grasped and accepted (after discussion) my priorities including my desire for greater coordination among my various specialists and primary care.
Listened closely to my questions and concerns, helpful in his suggestions, was proactive.
As with prior appointments with him, he carefully listens and prioritizes what I have to say. He accepts that I'm using several specialists (both in and out of OSU's network) with complicated ongoing issues about which he is NOT necessarily an expert but with which he can help me at minimum coordinate services.
