About Me
I specialize in comprehensive gastroenterology with a focus on inflammatory bowel disease, Barrett’s esophagus and therapeutic endoscopy. I work hard to provide patient-centered, safe, effective and timely care to each of my patients. I enjoy meeting patients and really try to listen to their needs and concerns, allowing me to personalize their care with an evidence-based approach.
I love that The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center strives to balance excellence in patient care with research and medical education. It’s this balance that eventually drew me back to join the faculty. It’s exciting to be part of a healthy, growing division with great subspecialty services. This academic setting also spoke to me because of my passion for teaching. The medical center allows me to be involved with teaching and mentoring students, residents and fellows during their training.
In terms of research, most recently I have published works about colorectal cancer screening and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in sleep. I’m also working on medical education projects.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my young kids and wife, traveling and watching and playing sports.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Skeans has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Very knowledgeable doctor. Hard to reach/get in touch with via MyChart.
He listened to all my questions and answered each and every one of them. He explained everything even with visuals. Very helpful.
