Biography
I am a transplant hepatologist, specializing in liver disease and liver transplantation, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My practice focuses on caring for patients with liver conditions and guiding them through every stage of the transplant process – from evaluation and preparation to long-term care after transplantation.
As a gastroenterologist and transplant hepatologist, I treat liver conditions and care for patients before and after they undergo transplantation procedures. I appreciate the opportunity to positively impact the lives of patients who are critically ill and guide them through the transplant process. It is deeply rewarding to help patients recover and achieve a better quality of life.
I chose a career in medicine because it allows me to use my scientific knowledge to help improve patients' lives. Every patient is unique, and I work closely with each individual to develop a treatment plan that addresses their specific needs and goals. I believe patients should feel informed and empowered in their care, and I take time to ensure that they understand their diagnosis, treatment options and the path forward, so that they can make confident decisions about their health.

Academics and research
I am an assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition within the Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and my research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in how liver injury develops into liver failure and cirrhosis, as well as how the liver ultimately regenerates. I specifically focus on investigating how blood vessels within the liver and in other organs regulate the progression of acute liver failure and decompensated cirrhosis.
In addition to my clinical work in transplant hepatology, I have extensive training in biomedical research. I have special interest in understanding how the heart, lung and brain are affected by liver disease. Through this research, I aim to advance our understanding of the physiology of liver failure and to identify new therapeutic strategies that can help critically ill patients successfully reach liver transplantation.
By studying the complex interactions between the liver and other organ systems, I seek to translate scientific discoveries into treatments that improve outcomes for patients with advanced liver disease.
