Biography
As a family physician, I believe in providing care that is patient-centered, evidence-based and focuses on primary prevention of illness as the root of health. My role allows me to build long-lasting relationships with patients and their families in which I can see changes over time to ensure my patients' needs are being met. With each case, I try to provide cost-conscious and cost-efficient patient care.
I joined the Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 2019. Here at Ohio State, I am privileged to work with world-class physicians and educators who help make a positive impact on all my patients. Additionally, my patients have access to outstanding resources in the Ohio State network such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, pharmacy and social work.
I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay area but have lived in Columbus for seven years. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, golfing, watching Cal football, traveling and spending time with my wife Shauna (a pediatrician at Nationwide Children's Hospital) and young daughter.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Dr. Schord is the best doctor I have ever had. I have never had a Doctor who actually spent time with me answering my questions and genuinely truly cares about me, and I feel that from him, he is awesome.

Dr Schord spent a lot of time listening to me and my adult son about my immediate needs (broken toe and weight loss) and continuing issues from my back surgery last year. In addition, he put in the referral for a podiatrist, and followed up with them to schedule an appt within a few days after central scheduling wouldn't get me in to see a doctor until the end of July. He dealt with each of the other topics as well.Therefore, we are very happy-- he listened, he heard, he acted, and he followed up.
