About Me

I am a surgical oncologist who cares for patients with gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary, neuroendocrine and peritoneal surface malignancies. I believe in a collaborative approach to patient care. Every patient deserves a multidisciplinary evaluation to consider the best individualized treatment plan for them. I strive to ensure patients are fully informed so that we can partner together to make shared treatment decisions.

Many of my patients present with advanced or metastatic disease, and I use innovative approaches such as neoadjuvant therapy or intraperitoneal chemotherapy (also known as HIPEC) to achieve the best outcomes. When possible, I prioritize minimally invasive approaches in order to minimize postoperative pain and recovery time.

As a member of the Translational Therapeutics Program at the OSUCCC – James, my research investigates the optimal components and sequencing of multimodality therapy using a variety of research methodologies. Furthermore, I seek to identify novel clinical and molecular biomarkers that can influence the indications for personalized treatment, as well as elucidate patient preferences and patient-centered outcomes of multimodality therapy for these cancer types.

I consider research to be an important part of my work, and I’ve been published in journals such as Cancer, JAMA Surgery and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. Through studying patient outcomes and introducing clinical trials, I hope to help my current patients as well as future ones. I also enjoy teaching and currently serve as an assistant professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology at The Ohio State University.

I enjoy working with a highly experienced and specialized team of providers here at The James, who are passionate about caring for patients with cancer. I am proud to work at one of the leading cancer centers in the country knowing that patients are receiving the best care possible.
