Biography
My clinical interests include evaluating and treating patients with cognitive-linguistic impairments, aphasia (language impairments) and dysphagia (swallowing impairments) secondary to acquired neurologic disorders, including stroke and traumatic brain injury, in the acute care setting. I am qualified to perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) studies to objectively assess swallow function and determine an appropriate care plan to help patients return to eating and drinking safely.
I am looking to grow my expertise in evidence-based practice for aphasia treatment and implementing Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) devices in the acute care setting.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Laura Kennedy has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
