Biography
After serving in the US Army, I decided to explore careers in healthcare and saw dietetics as the best fit. Throughout my career, I have worked in several areas of Dietetics including acute care, long-term care, pre-natal, and outpatient counseling. Originally from Southern Ohio, I have seen the impact of obesity and nutrition on the development of comorbidities such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Being a total “foodie” I enjoy finding new places and menus to explore and understands the difficulty of finding the balance between enjoying food and still maintaining a healthy weight.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Matthew Black has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
