Biography

I am Megan Karrick, DO, and I specialize in liver disease and liver transplantation at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My practice focuses on caring for patients throughout every stage of the transplant journey, as well as on treating a wide range of liver conditions including fatty liver disease, hepatitis, cirrhosis, and alcohol-related liver disease.

I chose a career in transplant hepatology, because I value the opportunity to care for patients during some of their most challenging times. I am passionate about providing education, guidance, and compassionate care to help patients better understand their conditions and feel confident in their treatment plans.

As a transplant hepatologist, I care for patients from the initial diagnosis of cirrhosis and advanced liver disease through transplant evaluation, liver transplantation, and post-transplant follow-up care. I also treat patients with hepatitis B, hepatitis C, fatty liver disease, liver cancer, and other complex liver conditions.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is building long-term relationships with patients and their families. I appreciate the opportunity to support patients throughout their transplant journey and witness the life-changing impact that transplantation can have on their health and quality of life. My goal is to ensure that every patient feels informed, supported, and comfortable while receiving personalized treatment tailored to their needs.

More about my research

Consulting and related relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 11/3/2025, Megan Karrick has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
