Biography

I am Meshaal Alanzi, MD, and I am a transplant nephrologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in caring for people with advanced kidney disease who are preparing for kidney transplantation, as well as kidney transplant recipients who need long-term follow-up care.

My practice focuses on pre-transplant evaluation, education and medical management to help patients understand their options and prepare for transplant. After transplant, I monitor kidney function, manage immunosuppressive medications and help address complications so patients can protect the health of their transplanted kidney.

I believe in an individualized, team-based approach to care. I work closely with patients, their families and the transplant team to create treatment plans that support each person’s needs, goals and quality of life before and after transplant.

Academics and research

I am Meshaal Alanzi, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Nephrology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and I specialize in transplant nephrology and kidney health research. My research focuses on advancing our understanding of kidney transplantation, kidney disease and opportunities to improve outcomes for kidney transplant recipients through innovative clinical and translational research.

My work is centered on investigating kidney disease and transplant-related care, including the factors that influence transplant readiness, kidney allograft function and long-term health after transplant. Through research, I seek to generate knowledge that can inform evidence-based approaches to evaluation, treatment and follow-up care before and after kidney transplantation.

I am committed to collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to address important challenges in transplant nephrology and kidney health. By integrating scientific discovery with clinical insight, I aim to contribute to research that improves care, supports long-term transplant success and enhances quality of life for individuals living with kidney disease or a kidney transplant.
