Biography
I am an Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Specialty Practice Pharmacist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where I focus on treating infectious diseases and supporting patients who require intravenous antimicrobial therapy outside the hospital setting. My professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, HIV and sexually transmitted infections, global health, public health, and improving care for underserved and minority communities.
My work centers on finding better ways to treat infections—especially in people who need strong antibiotics given through an IV at home or in outpatient clinics. I study how infections spread, how to choose the safest and most effective medications, and how to support patients who may face barriers to care.
I value the innovative, patient centered environment at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and am passionate about improving access to high quality infectious diseases care. I am committed to advancing antimicrobial stewardship, supporting public health initiatives, and helping develop treatment strategies that improve outcomes for diverse patient populations.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Parisi Mercado has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
