About Me
As a transplant surgeon at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I am passionate about improving, and often helping to save, my patients’ lives. It is highly rewarding to see a transplant patient quickly transition from a sickly state to a healthy one after surgery.
I specialize in liver, kidney and pancreas transplants, including living-donor procedures. I also provide vascular access surgery. I have worked in hospitals both here in the United States and internationally, which has given me experience in a wide variety of clinical scenarios, including performing complex or difficult surgeries.
Transplantation is an ever-evolving field and I am passionate about exploring innovative techniques and treatment options that optimize patient care. My research interests include immunosuppression, infectious diseases and improving vascular access outcomes.
It is a privilege to do this work at The Ohio State University. I appreciate the supportive environment and I love the opportunity to help train the next generation of physicians. In my role, I also serve as an assistant professor at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
In my free time, I love watching movies with my wife and two boys. I enjoy playing volleyball and badminton.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

I was referred for Kidney Transplant by my nephrologist. I was scheduled for a "caregiver conference and surgical consultation." It took one month to the date of referral until I was contacted to schedule an appointment. This was the first with the transplant team. They told me that I HAD to bring my caregiver with me or it couldn't be scheduled. This was reinforcedin writingand verballyby the attendant who scheduledme. . They said it would several hours. I brought the caregiver and my husband, who is hoping to donate his kidney to me. We all scheduled days off work and the caregiver drove 2.5 hours to get there. The whole thing took 30 minutes, during which they weighed me, calculated my BMI at 46 and said I couldn't be considered as a candidate because it was more than 45. I've been followed by nephrology at this hospital for five years. Why do they have to bring in three people to hear that I'm not a candidate? Their decision was completely objective based on numbers that they already had. I'm not upset at all that they won't move forward at this time, I'm upset that they had me drag other people halfway across the state to hear that. I'm angry that they can't be bothered to calculate such thing when you do your initial phone screening. A form letter stating that I could schedule when I was at an appropriate BMI. Honestly, I'm losing confidence to put my life in the hands of people who have so little concern about my needs. I need a transplant, yes. I need to lose weight, yes. But I also need not to inconvenience my family with a full day off to be kicked to the curb when the staff could easily have known I wouldn't qualify. I'm still a person.
