About Me
As an endocrinologist, I treat a range of conditions including thyroid and adrenal disorders, diabetes and bone health issues. I have been taking care of patients alongside an exceptional team in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism for more than two decades. I proudly helped establish the Endocrine Clinic at Outpatient Care New Albany, which has allowed more patients to receive important care closer to home.
I chose this field because I find endocrine disorders fascinating. My patients can always rely on me to do all I can to improve their situation and help them achieve a higher quality of life.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am a professor of Internal Medicine and serve as a block leader for Endocrinology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I have received awards for my work in medical education, and I am often invited to share my expertise at national and international conferences.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2024, Dr. Khawaja has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Dr. Raheela is the best. She is a good provider. She goes the the extra mile and truly cares for her patients. All good experiences no complaints.
This was my first appt. With this dr. I was very impressed with her knowledge and the time she spent with me, considering she was running behind. She did not make me feel rushed, she was very compassionate.
All good
Care provider experiences were basically good.
Very knowledgeable. Aware of surgery I just had & it's complications. Explained my medications & bloodwork.
Explained plan of care for current year and ongoing into next year including options depending on results of lab work and scans in a way that was easy to understand
She understands the science and explained my diagnosis using appropriate models and the actual test results.
Knowledgeable and efficient
I am very impressed with the doctor. She was very thorough and she showed genuine concern asking many questions. She followed up from last visit specifically on every item of concern I feel my level of care is at the highest I could ever expect and I am so happy with adr Khawaja!!!!
When she finally came in the room, sure was with a student and directed all of her comments to the student, talking about me as if I weren't there. She was explaining to the student how she would recommend treatments, medications, future plans, etc. But was not talking to me directly. When I asked a question about the lab orders, she didn't seem to understand what I was asking and didn't bother to get it clarified.
As always very attentive to detail
Dr. Kawajja took time to review my information even though she had not seen me since 2013.
Doctor is very knowledgeable
Excellent knowledge
She thoroughly reviewed my medical records
Excellent bedside manner.
She always listens to me, not just hears.
No complaints
Thorough, kind, attentive and receptive
Fine
You could tell that she was trying to get out of the appointment as quickly as possible. I felt like she wasn't listening to me, since my bloodwork came back normal, she said nothing was wrong with me. She did not even feel my thyroid area where I have a suspicious bump. This was extremely concerning to me.
This was my first appointment with this doctor, after having to wait six months to see her. She seemed really knowledgeable and went through my history with me. Yet, every question I had about the reason for my visit and related concerns were rapidly dismissed with short responses. After completing the ultrasound, we left the room. I assumed we would go to the initial room to discuss next steps, questions, etc. But since my purse and coat had already been moved out and left on top of a desk in another general room, the last questions were rushed and without any kind of privacy. Had this had been my first visit at OSU, I would not return.
Caring, knows my health history!
Perfect
She was very nice and friendly.
She didn't ask me any questions. Just went over previous lab results and u/s. Never asked me if I had any symptoms
Dr provides Excellent care and compassionate.
I really appreciated how Dr. Kawaja was very thorough in their explanations of that was happening throughout the entire clinical encounter. However, I still feel pain from the biopsy.
Very good first meeting with her. She respected my concerns and can up with a care plan for my needs
She remembers everything. She doesn't skip details. She respects our different points of view but never gives up. It's a skill.
She was focused!
Good appointment. All personnel that I interacted with were all great.
Good
Excellent concern and took time to help solve my issues.
Caring
Good
Very Caring.
The provider was kind and she explained everything I needed to know about what we went there for.
She's great
My provider is very knowledgeable but talks very fast. I try to write down the important information she provides, but I am unable to keep up with her, and some of the specifics she mentions are not included in my discharge papers.
Above my expectations, need aGP that good
Exceptional service
Excellent. Par excellence
Wonderful
Excellent doctor, very knowledgeable ,thorough, with very good communication skills with patients. Very good experience overall this visit.Very pleasant and dedicated endocrinologist!!!
Very knowledgeablefriendly
Dr Khawaja does not respond in a timely manner to anything. It's very distressing to have TSH levels that are off the chart and the doctor who ordered the labs says nothing for days and every time I call, I get a call center that just says they'll pass along my message. It's extremely frustrating and I am in the process of finding a new endocrinologist
Dr. Khawaja listened to all I had going on and we came up with a good plan!
Very good
I was a new patient for this provider. She had obviously read my records and was familiar with my history.
Nothing bad just good conduct
Had a needle biopsy on my Thyroid. Had one done 2015 by a different doctor. They numbed me did the biopsy, I could not feel it and no pain the next day. This provider numbed ut but was very rough doing the biopsy. I could feel it clear back in my ears and throat. She kept saying don't shallow or talk. Then she kept saying their it is I got, I got. All 6 sticks. My whole neck was completely bursed for 4 day. This is the 5th day and it is finally looking better. I had a hard time swallowing, sore throat and ear pain for 3 days. I will be asking for a new provider through the OSU hospital when I need my 6 month checkup
She moves too fast and talks too fast. Exam, if you want to call it that, was too short.
Great level of care from this provider.
Good care
Dr. Khawaja is a caring dr. She always ask how I'm going & feeling. And explains everything to you. I'm glad she is my doctor.
Dr. Khawaja is an amazing personality from the beginning. Very kind and professional, always reassuring, detail oriented. She would listen & ask questions before giving his diagnosis & professional news. Making me feel at ease and she solves my health concerns.
After lab had a Multitude of first questions and forward plan explained. A lot to take in but good sinceI understood why my PC physician had me scheduled with specialist.
Very caring and explains in detail my health issues and treatment options.
She was very good in talking about my test results. Also making sure I would follow up with primary. She explained my test well and goals for what's next.
No bad experiences - Dr. Khawaja seems concerned about my numbers and offered assistance and guidance.
She was extremely knowledgeable about cushings syndrome, which is what she is testing me for. She was able to point out a lot of unrelated symptoms that fall under cushings. I felt like she truly saw me as a person, and did not judge me based on my weight, but understood I needed help. She sent me message through mychart at 10pm on a Friday night, letting me know what the results of my lab work were, and the next step toward getting a diagnosis. She's amazing!
She's great and very busy, but took time with me in a very relaxed - way, focused on me. She ordered a soft tissue of my neck MRI.
Very friendly and professional.
My provider was sincere and knowledgeable, and I appreciated her help. However, it was clear that she's trying to manage quite a large number of patients, and I believe she needs more support than she receives. The nurse assistant who attended my biopsy procedure seemed to be untrained in how to manage the samples/slides that were taken. Likewise, the resident who attended the procedure seemed untrained. Again, the endocrinologist needed more and better support than she seems to have been given. The endocrinologist, Dr. Khawaja, was sincere, kind, and appeared to be competent, but she was clearly overloaded with patients and seemed rushed.
Only good.
Very good
Fantastic care and patient concern from Dr. Khawaja. My first visit with her and I see why people say she is amazing. Spent time educating me on all the details of my health, history & test results. Best experience and best endocrinologist I have been to see! Patient, kind, caring, lots of time spent covering details, answering questions and going over testing. Also immediate responses on MyChart.
She'd ask me a question and then cut me off ...never really gave me a chance to explain my answer
Dr. K is the best.
Friendly and courteous
Dr K is caring and concerned
An excellent experience
Dr. K has been my doc since 2001, she knows me.
She is such a wonderful, caring doctor who wants the best for her patients
Dr. Khawaja has the respect of her colleagues that refer to her. She was kind and respectful. She answered my questions and developed a plan for my next visit. She eased my concerns, and I am grateful for the care she has provided to me over the years.
Very good.
