Biography
I am Salman Zahoor, MD, and I specialize in epilepsy and seizure disorders. My practice at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of epilepsy conditions including evaluation and management of drug-resistant epilepsy, surgical evaluation of epilepsy including advanced neuromodulation therapies and electroencephalography (EEG) interpretation.
Patients with epilepsy and seizures deserve care that is both compassionate and guided by the latest advances in the field. I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of seizure disorders ranging from a first seizure or newly diagnosed epilepsy to complex, drug-resistant epilepsy. I work closely with each patient to understand their unique needs and develop a personalized treatment plan designed to maximize seizure control, improve quality of life, and help them achieve their personal goals.
My clinical expertise includes the interpretation of electroencephalography (EEG), including intracranial EEG studies, and the medical and procedural management of epilepsy. I provide comprehensive evaluations for patients with difficult-to-control seizures and offer advanced treatment options including prolonged EEG monitoring, presurgical epilepsy evaluations and also, neuromodulation therapies, such as vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS).
I am committed to delivering evidence-based care that combines the latest research and technology with a patient-centered approach. My goal is to help patients and their families navigate the challenges of epilepsy with confidence, while providing expert guidance and support throughout their care journey.
My professional honors include receiving the Young Investigator Award from the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, recognition as a Fellow of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and being named to Castle Connolly’s "Top Doctors” and “Top AAPI Doctors” lists.

Academics and research
I am Salman Zahoor, MD, associate professor in the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I specialize in epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology and neuromodulation for neurological disorders. My research focuses on advancing the understanding and treatment of epilepsy and seizure disorders, with particular interest in the use of innovative neurostimulation approaches to improve patient outcomes.
My work centers on evaluating and optimizing therapies for people living with epilepsy and other complex neurological conditions. Areas of interest include deep brain stimulation (DBS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) and other neuromodulation strategies that can help reduce seizure burden and improve quality of life. Through clinical and translational research, I seek to better understand how these therapies can be tailored to individual patients and integrated into comprehensive epilepsy care.
As a physician-scientist, I collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to bridge discoveries in neuroscience with real-world clinical applications. My goal is to develop evidence-based approaches that advance the treatment of epilepsy and neurological disorders, while expanding access to innovative therapies for the patients who may benefit most.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Salman Zahoor has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
