Biography

I love working with all patients, no matter where they are on their health and wellness journeys, and hope to inspire them to feel empowered and engaged with their own health. As a family nurse practitioner, I provide care across the lifespan and treat conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), anxiety, depression and substance use disorders. I also offer pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) for HIV, perform sexual health screenings, offer pap smears for cervical cancer screening and treat viral and bacterial infections.

My work experience includes time spent volunteering in hospice at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. That role reinforced for me the importance of prevention and regular screenings for health conditions, as well as the role that diet, exercise and integrative modalities can play in managing chronic health conditions.

My care strategy revolves around creating whole-person-focused partnerships with individuals, families and communities to achieve health and wellness goals. In these partnerships, we focus on promoting overall mental, physical and emotional health, while also incorporating medication-assisted management of acute and chronic conditions when appropriate. My patients can trust that I will collaborate with them to ensure the treatment plans align with their expectations and goals.

The resources and the opportunities to work alongside such highly skilled and knowledgeable specialists is unparalleled here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I also appreciate the ability to participate in research that is changing medicine and health outcomes. My own research interests include improving care for individuals with obesity, how community partnerships may assist in preventing and treating hypertension and diabetes, the use of food and exercise as medicine, and the impact of health disparities on health and longevity. I am especially passionate about partnering with community agencies to increase access to quality health care for all patients.

As a certified clinical nurse leader, I am also proficient in care coordination, outcomes measurement, transition of care, interprofessional communication and implementation of best practices based on evidence. In addition, I serve as the clinic lead at The Ohio State University Total Health and Wellness Center, and I am an active member of the Advanced Practice Provider Conference Committee.

It’s also a privilege to help train future providers. I mentor and precept nursing students in the family nurse practitioner, women’s health and certified nurse midwives’ tracks. My goal is to inspire future APRNs to utilize evidence-based practice guidelines to diagnose, treat and care for patients across the lifespan, and instill in them the importance of contributing to research and practice improvement.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband, our two children and our dog, Elsa. I enjoy cooking, spending time outside, listening to music, exercising, meeting new people and trying new things.

Sarah Kincaid is one of the very best medical practitioners I have had in my eighty-four years. She listens intently to everything you say, makes you feel as though you are her only patient, is extremely knowledgeable, and has great insight. I couldn't be in better hands.

Sarah is always a joy to visit. She makes sure that I'm staying on top of my BP meds, and that I'm keeping up with other yearly preventative appointments i.e mammograms.
