Biography
I am Satyam Ghodasara, MD, and I specialize in diagnostic radiology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. My practice focuses on diagnostic imaging and radiology, using advanced imaging tools to support accurate, timely diagnoses and to guide patient care.
Medicine drew me in because it is where scientific and technological progress translates most directly into what happens to a real person on a real day. I chose radiology, and ultimately neuroradiology, because imaging sits at that intersection. Every MRI or CT scan is both a human moment – often, a turning point in a patient’s diagnosis – and an feat of physics, mathematics and computation.
Before medical school, I created a mobile app that helped families in my local community find clean water during a public health crisis. That experience shaped how I think about my career. I saw that a well-designed tool, placed in the right hands at the right moment, can change outcomes for an entire community.
Early in my training, I realized I didn’t want to choose between caring for patients and building the tools that support their care. Diagnostic radiology allows me to do both, combining clinical insight with innovation to improve how we diagnose and treat disease.

Academics and research
I am Satyam Ghodasara, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I specialize in artificial intelligence (AI) and informatics in medical imaging. My research focuses on how emerging technologies can make imaging faster, more accurate and more meaningful for patients.
I study how to rigorously evaluate AI tools before they are implemented in clinical practice, helping to ensure that new technologies improve care, support clinicians and sustain value over time. My work also includes large, multi-institutional collaborations using AI to improve detection and mapping of brain tumors on MRIs. My work also includes efforts to optimize imaging workflows for radiologists so that patients receive timely diagnoses and answers.
Across my research, I am particularly interested in bridging innovation and real-world applications to ensure that advances in AI are not only technically strong, but also practical, equitable and beneficial in everyday clinical settings. I use research methods including case studies, mixed-method research, qualitative observational approaches, quantitative analyses, surveys and real-world data studies to evaluate technological performance and its impact on patient care.
My contributions include co-developing a published framework for evaluating AI tools in radiology, helping healthcare systems determine which technologies meaningfully improve outcomes. I have also contributed to international collaborations in brain tumor imaging, including work supporting advances in tumor segmentation.
Ultimately, my goal is to help shape a future in which AI is seamlessly integrated into radiology to benefit patients.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Satyam Ghodasara has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
