Department: Neurology
I am a neurologist who specializes in treating patients with cognitive impairment and memory disorders. I also have specialized expertise in palliative medicine, which has strongly influenced my patient care.
My patients can rely on me for a comprehensive, whole-person approach that is aimed at improving their quality of life. Treatment plans are based on the patient’s unique physical, emotional and mental needs, as well as on social determinants of health. I collaborate with other multidisciplinary specialists to ensure that patients receive high-quality care to address other physical and psychosocial needs. I also help caregivers navigate their loved ones’ challenging illnesses and provide anticipatory guidance through the evolution of disease.
My research in health services allows me to stay up to date with the latest advancements and novel interventions that I can apply to patient care. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am also an assistant clinical professor of Neurology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Please note: Not all physicians schedule patients at each listed location.
I am an assistant clinical professor of Neurology in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. My academic work is centered on strategies to enhance care for patients with cognitive impairment, memory disorders and dementia.
Specifically, I am focused on improving outcomes for cognitively impaired patients who present to an emergency department or hospital with behavioral symptoms. My research has involved investigations of the acute care setting, including primary data collection at an institutional level and secondary data analysis at a national level, to look for clinical, pharmacological and system-level factors that lead to worsened outcomes after discharge. My goal is to identify and address problematic areas and help develop new interventions and novel care approaches that will improve patient quality of life.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
