About Me
Sleep is our natural, essential, daily refresher… but sometimes it becomes complicated and burdensome part of our lives. That is why my approach for every patient is to find the root cause of their sleep problem and restore sleep back to its helpful role. By searching for the most accurate diagnosis, my hope is that we can minimize the use of medications and find the treatment that offers the most substantial long-term benefit.
To improve patient care I constantly evaluate new sleep technologies. In many ways, technology has worsened our sleep quality by causing us trouble in synchronizing our sleep patterns with our natural environment. However, recent advancements are changing how we fix sleep disorders with new treatments, improved decision making, and long-term care with remote monitoring.
I treat all sleep conditions, including: all forms of sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, parasomnias, narcolepsy and other disorders of excessive sleepiness, circadian rhythm disorders and insomnias.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

This was my first visit to the care provider. He was very knowledgeable concerning my condition. He presented the possible approaches, the pros and cons. He was a good listener. I like him!!
My new patient visit with Dr. Holfinger went extremely well. He came prepared, having read my relevant medical records he had available. He asked good questions to get an understanding of my full history and concerns, and listened intently. He had several helpful recommendations and insights and communicated these clearly to me. The entire appointment I felt respected and cared for. He even followed up very promptly after the appointment with additional steps that we discussed. Ten out of ten. I would definitely recommend Dr. Holfinger!

Love this doctor!
Dr Holfinger is a knowledgeable, attentive and interactive care giver demonstrated by his CPAP therapy recommendations. My sleep cycle and quality of my sleep has improved due to his expertise with my CPAP machine and therapy.
Great at explaining
I changed doctors to Dr holfinger because I felt my previous sleep doctor wasn't taking into consideration my own impressions of my sleep. And would schedule meetings just to show, sell, or tell me about additional, hardware, appliances, and devices that I should get beyond what my insurance would help with. Dr Holfinger did none of those things and was a great breath of fresh air, his expertise, knowledge, listening ability, clinical care are all miles ahead of what I had previously experienced with another doctor.

Dr. Holfinger should be an example of how all doctors should treat patients. He was very attentive in listening to my history and reasons for the visit. He walked me through multiple scenarios in the initial visit so I knew what to expect. Then after the test followed up with extremely detailed notes even with timing on scheduling visits and next steps.This level of communication is nothing like anything I have received at OSU and it is greatly appreciated!
Hard to get adequate answers. Difficult to talk to at times
He was the best. Everything you could ask for in a doctor. You should give him a raise because he was that good.
He was patient, thorough, listened well and asked appropriate questions. Had my information and it was obvious he had reviewed my information ahead of time. He took the time necessary to understand the problem, offer solutions and made sure we were on the same page for treatment plans going forward. Offered good advice and information to help me understand my condition.

Dr. Holfinger is unfailingly kind AND exceedingly knowledgeable. I hate the long , confusing drive to the Hilliard Clinic, but it is worth it to see him. I always learn something when I see him.
