Biography
I am a nephrologist and critical care physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, specializing in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic kidney diseases, acute kidney injury, electrolyte and acid-base disorders and critical illness. My practice focuses on caring for patients with complex kidney conditions and those requiring intensive care unit (ICU) treatment.
I chose a career in medicine because I am passionate about helping people improve their health and quality of life. As a physician, I provide compassionate, evidence-based and patient-centered care while helping patients and their families navigate both routine and complex medical challenges.
I believe the best outcomes are achieved when patients understand their medical conditions and actively participate in their care. I take time to listen, answer questions and help patients make informed decisions about their treatment options. My goal is to support patients and help them achieve the best possible outcomes.
I specialize in continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), intermittent hemodialysis, management of septic shock, hemodynamic monitoring and mechanical ventilation. I also have expertise in treating complex kidney-related conditions in the ICU that include kidney failure, fluid and electrolyte imbalances and multiorgan dysfunction.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children, traveling and exploring new places. Family is at the heart of my life and inspires me to bring compassion and a personal touch to the care I provide.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Subhash Chander has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
