Biography
I am a board-certified emergency medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. I specialize in providing acute care for patients experiencing urgent and life-threatening conditions with a particular focus on prehospital and emergency medical services (EMS).
My patients can rely on me for high quality, compassionate care and honest communication in every encounter. I collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of skilled experts to ensure each patient receives personalized care tailored to their unique needs and values.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am passionate about advancing emergency medical services through education and innovation. I completed both my residency and EMS fellowship at Ohio State and now serve as an assistant professor of Emergency Medicine. I also contribute to the Center for EMS where I help strengthen real-world training opportunities for local EMS providers and support efforts to improve prehospital care delivery.

In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Sharkey-Toppen has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
